Free Workshop - Hosting Beer Festivals 19 Sep, Wellington
Hosting Beer Festivals Workshop - 19 Sep Wellington
Just a reminder that this workshop is scheduled to take place next Thursday, 19 September at the Rydges Hotel Wellington. Following the passing of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 (SSAA 2012) there will be a number of different obligations relating to anyone participating, organising and promoting events involving alcohol.
Because this issue is of such high importance to our industry, the Brewers Guild of NZ and the Brewers Association are jointly hosting a FREE workshop for the beer industry to assist with preparation for the entry into force of the SSAA2012 from 18 Dec 2013. Please circulate this information widely to anyone that you know may be interested in attending.
Aims of the Workshop:
- to inform participants of the main changes to the law under the SSAA 2012
- to discuss and identify key issues and workable solutions when it comes to hosting beer events
- to discuss developing an industry code of good practice.
This workshop will be valuable for anyone or any company that participates in or organises beer events, be they a small beer tasting event, or a major beer festival. It is also critical for all those who produce, serve, and market beer to understand your obligations and responsibilities.
The workshop will include presentations from the Ministry of Justice, the Police, the Health Promotion Agency (formerly ALAC), the Advertising Standards Authority, a Liquor Licensing Inspector, and Beervana's David Cryer, as well as practical examples of how different events manage the risks and enhance the positives. NZ Police and ALAC put together some guidelines in August 2010 which are a helpful reference point.
