Brewery/Packaging Assistant - Sawmill Brewing

Purpose: Ensuring our beer remains the highest quality while packing it off into kegs, bottles and cans. Daily duties involve maintaining and running keg cleaning/filling, bottling, labelling and can packing operations. High standard of problem-solving skills are of utmost importance. Excellent communication skills are essential to work with our busy team.

Key responsibilities: Quality management is a key requirement in all aspects of brewery work listed below. The brewery/packaging assistant will be responsible for ensuring that all facets of beer production meet the quality requirements of the Sawmill Brewery.

Duties:

- Preparing and operating an 8-head linear bottle-filler including changing machine parts for different vessels

- Managing the transfer of beer from bright beer tanks to packaged without compromising quality

- Operating and monitoring the keg line

- Regular monitoring and testing of the beer and ensuring it remains within our specifications and standard operating procedures

Tasks to complete these duties:

- Preparing and operating an 8-head linear bottle-filler including changing machine parts for different vessels

- Preparing, operating and troubleshooting our bottle labelling machine

- Addressing any mechanical faults in the above machinery

- Controlling the pressure and temperature of tank and keg while transferring beer into kegs

- Operation of Zahm and Nagel CO2 testing equipment to test beer carbonation

- Operation of Beverley dissolved O2 meter to ensure beer within oxygen specifications

- Washing and cleaning kegs using our ABE Keg Commander keg cleaning machine

- Maintain and monitor plant and equipment according to the Food Control Plan

- Ensure continual operation within the health and safety environment for employee, contractors and visitors including the Diluting and preparation of hazardous chemicals for machinery and cleaning operations

Qualifications:

- Mechanical or science-based qualifications are preferred

Experience:

- Relevant brewery experience is preferred
