We’re looking for a capable, hands-on brewer to join our team in Gisborne.
This role reports to the Head Brewer at Sunshine Brewery and would suit an experienced brewer who is confident working across the full brewing process, from wort production through to fermentation, cellaring, packaging preparation, cleaning, quality control, and day-to-day brewery operations. That said, we are open to competent brewers at different stages of their careers. If you have strong practical brewing skills, good instincts, and the right attitude, we would like to hear from you.
The ideal person will be reliable, organised, physically capable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team. Attention to detail is essential, as is a commitment to cleanliness, consistency, and producing quality beer.
The role may include:
Brewing, cellaring, transfers, dry hopping, filtration or centrifuge work, packaging preparation, cleaning and sanitation, stock management, record keeping, quality checks, and general brewery maintenance. Depending on experience, there may also be opportunities to contribute to recipe development, production planning, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has practical commercial brewing experience, or strong relevant brewing competence
Understands cleaning, sanitation, fermentation management, and brewery safety
Can work accurately and consistently
Is comfortable with physical work
Communicates well and works well in a small team
Takes pride in making good beer
Is willing to learn, adapt, and get stuck in where needed
Formal brewing qualifications would be a bonus, but they are not essential. Practical ability, reliability, and a good work ethic matter most.
