Who is b.effect Brewing Company

b.effect started making beers in 2015, and since then we’ve built our own brewery & taproom in the middle of Wānaka. We make both alcoholic and non-alcoholic brewed beverages including beer, cider, ginger beer, and kombucha.

Our purpose is to change the way that we socialise and come together as a community.   We want to make great beverages while striving to have a positive impact on the environment and create positive change in Wānaka and beyond.

 The Role:

You would be working closely with our General Manager to execute our sales strategy.  The regions outside of Wānaka, like QT, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Southland are integral parts of our future growth strategy.  So being on the road to these areas each week will be part of the role. Multi day trips to Dunedin and Chch are needed every month meaning you will regularly be on the road for 3-4 days at a time.

The role will also involve; On Premise staff tastings, training, and educational workshops.  The On Premise market is the primary focus of our business.  So familiarity with On Premise over Off Premise will be favoured.  We attend a lot of events which are primarily on the weekend.  You will not need to attend everyone, but sharing the load with the team is important, and it’s an important part of the sales responsibilities.

We’re still a small business, so when you’re at the brewery processing orders, picking, packing, and doing deliveries are all part of the role.  Our team works incredibly hard, so helping them out and creating a collaborative team culture is vital.

  • Sales calls in existing businesses
  • New business development.
  • Running staff training and tastings.
  • Setting up and attending events to promote our brand and educate customers about b.effect and our beverages.
  • Soliciting feedback on our beverages from customers and engaging in discussions about how to improve our beverages. 
  • Picking stocks, and coordinating with our freight partners to get stock to our customers. 
  • Organising our warehousing and stocks.
  • Local deliveries (you will need a full NZ licence)
  • Helping the brew team out with canning runs, filling kegs, and cleaning kegs.
  • Safe use of equipment and plant, pumps, hot water, cleaning chemicals, caustic & acid based, along with safe use of ladders, driving a forklift.

The role will come with plenty of training in the first year, and as part of this we would encourage further studies.  So ideally the applicant would see this as a role they could develop in and grow with the business. We are looking for someone who intends to stay in Wānaka for the long term. 

Preference will be given to local candidates who are able to start immediately.  A minimum of 1 in person interview and a short trial period helping in the brewery will also be needed.   

We will not interview anyone from overseas.  You need to be able to legally work in NZ and not require sponsorship.
