Our History
Our board is elected each year at the AGM (dependant on the expiring terms of the directors). The Board aims to provide representation from across the membership.
The 2024 Brewers Guild of New Zealand AGM will take place in the second half of 2024.

The Brewers Guild of New Zealand is a representative group whose strength comes from the collaboration of organisations and individuals within our industry.
The Guild Hall of Fame is where we honour and recognise the contribution by individuals to both the Brewers Guild as an organisation and to the wider industry.

This is the Guild’s highest honour and is awarded sparingly to recognise the high level of achievement of individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Brewers Guild of New Zealand.
To be considered for Honorary Fellowship of the Brewers Guild, the person must have been active in the brewing industry for at least 10 years. During this period, the person must have demonstrated a significant commitment to the aims and objectives of the Brewers Guild and have been actively involved in supporting the Brewers Guild to advance the interests of the New Zealand brewing industry.
The award of Honorary Fellow may be made to an individual who has worked for, or owned, a Brewers Guild member organisation. However, the individual no longer need to be working within the Brewing Industry and/or their company does not need to be a member at the time of the Award.
Honorary membership is awarded to a person distinguished in any of the technical, organisational or productive aspects of brewing who has been of material assistance to the Brewers Guild of New Zealand.
To be considered for Honorary Membership to the Brewers Guild, the person must have been active in the brewing industry for at least 3 years. During this period, the person must have demonstrated a commitment to the aims and objectives of the Brewers Guild and have been actively involved in supporting the Brewers Guild to advance the interests of the New Zealand brewing industry.
The award of Honorary Member may be made to an individual who has worked for, or owned, a Brewers Guild member organisation. However, the individual no longer need to be working within the Brewing Industry and/or their company does not need to be a member at the time of the Award
This honour is awarded to a person who has gained recognition for outstanding achievement in a field allied to the brewing industry. This Honour is distinct from other Industry Awards at the New Zealand Beer Awards because it awards individuals rather than organisational achievements.
To be considered for an Industry Achievement Award, the person must have been active in the brewing industry for at least 5 years. During this time, the person will have demonstrated a commitment to supporting the interests of Brewers and actively going above and beyond in their conduct and service to make the day-to-day activities for brewers easier. More than focusing on ‘just doing their job’ this award recognised excellence in customer service, positivity in attitude and a commitment to collaboration.
Nominations for the Honours Awards are initiated and supported by the Brewers Guild of New Zealand. We encourage anyone who knows of an individual they believe should be recognised for their contribution to brewing in New Zealand, to nominate them for Honours.

The Brewers Guild commits to supporting clear goals and actions that promote sensible drinking and reduce antisocial behaviour and harm that alcohol can cause. At the same time The Brewers Guild aims to ensure that people can enjoy alcohol safely and responsibly and that they benefit from a diverse and vibrant local brewing industry.

The Brewers Guild are committed to supporting our members to ensure that the brewing industry in New Zealand is a safe and inclusive place for people to work and socialise. We are also committed to offer training and education for our members to help them develop and evolve their workplaces to be inclusive, diverse and safe.
We are pleased to partner with ‘The Good Fight’ powered by Beer Baroness and their colab guest breweries, to help provide a variety of training that will support and guide better practices within the industry.
The Guild will also continue to encourage businesses in the brewing Industry to review internal practices, procedures and Standards of Conduct to ensure that they are current and reflect best practice.
