An associated business of Wakatū Incorporation, Kono NZ LP is a vertically integrated, family-owned Māori food and beverage producer and exporter of award-winning wine, craft beer and fruit.

Tohu Wines is the world’s first Māori owned wine company. We have vineyards in Marlborough and Nelson, and we produce beautiful wines at our winery in the Awatere Valley. Our wines are sold both domestically and are exported across the globe.

Hop Federation Brewery is our craft brewery located in Motueka. We have recently invested in a new brewery site and are increasing our capacity in order to meet growing demand. Hop Federation is known for our approachable, hop forward, award winning beers.

We are looking for a motivated person who will lead our NZ sales team.

About the role:
We are looking for a Domestic Beverages Manager who will lead our NZ sales team and manage and foster highly valued relationships with our key accounts.

Reporting to the Head of Wine Sales, you will be based at one of our locations (Nelson, Marlborough or Motueka) and will be required to travel regionally.

Tohu Wines and Hop Federation Brewery are in an exciting growth phase. This is a stimulating opportunity for a motivated and skilled sales lead to bring their strategic and leadership experience and build on the success of Tohu Wines & Hop Federation Brewery.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and reporting to ensure brand, channel and customer contribution goals are achieved.
  • Customer oversight and relationship management of key accounts & distribution partners.
  • Leadership, motivation and support for our sales team.
  • Collaborative working relationships with wine planning team and marketing.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • FMCG / beverages experience in grocery key accounts with proven ability to deliver results with FSNI strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of key account management experience.
  • Proven track record of leading, coaching and developing sales teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven with knowledge and use of Nielsen/IRI, Power BI, trade spend management and forecasting.
  • Excellent commercial acumen having successfully managed and/or led commercial negotiations including price increases, changing terms of trade, category reviews. Exposure to FSNI Leaf and commercial model an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships.
  • A growth mindset, solution-focused with demonstrated resilience, drive, confidence.
  • A strong values base, ability to inspire and lead, and appreciation of te ao Māori
