The ideal candidate will have; Brewing / Cellaring experience, and or experience in FMCG food or beverage manufacturing. Good levels of mechanical aptitude, a positive attitude, good problem solving skills, and a passion for Craft Beer and other artisan beverages such as Kombucha.
In brewing, cleaning and following the process is of uttermost importance, and attention to detail in everything we do is the key to success.
Brewing is a dynamic and evolving industry which requires occasional weekend work and extended hours through our peak periods of winter ski season and summer festive seasons.

b.effect started making beers in 2015, and since then we’ve built our own brewery & taproom in the middle of Wanaka. We make both alcoholic and non-alcoholic brewed beverages including beer, ginger beer, and kombucha.

The Role:
We make beer, cider, ginger beer & kombucha, and package into kegs and cans. So a typical week may look like the following:
- Monitoring the fermentation, dry hopping, record keeping, planning ahead
- Transferring the beverages to bright tanks, cleaning fermenters, bright tanks, and equipment.
- Packaging canning runs, and kegging finished product.
- Kombucha production, making the base, transferring, monitoring fermentation, scoby health, record keeping
- Safe use of equipment and plant, pumps, hot water, cleaning chemicals, caustic & acid based, along with safe use of ladders, driving a forklift.
- Picking, packing, and dispatching orders, through to deliveries, and helping make our customers lives epic.
- We’re a small business, so there will be times when we’re doing a bit of everything.
We need someone who will:

The role will come with plenty of training in the first year, and as part of this we would encourage and pay for further studies / training as well following that. So ideally the applicant would see this as a role they could develop in and grow with the business.
We are looking for someone who intends to stay in Wanaka for the long term. This is not a short term position.
We will not interview anyone from overseas. You need to be able to legally work in NZ and not require sponsorship. Working holiday visa’s need to have at least 2 years left to be considered.
Preference will be given to local candidates who are able to start immediately. A minimum of 1 in person interview and a short trial period helping in the brewery will also be needed.
