Brewing Assistant – Parrotdog Brewery Limited

Parrotdog was conceived in 2011 out of a love for good beer by three guys called Matt. Today, we’re continuing to do what they started back then: making approachable, award-winning beer from our rapidly expanding brewery in Lyall Bay, Wellington.

As a Brewing Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping us produce high quality beer. Your day-to-day will include a mix of hands-on brewing and quality control tasks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out CIP (clean-in-place) and general sanitation procedures.
  • Preparing and milling malt and involvement in wort production in accordance with recipe specifications.
  • Conducting filtration and/or centrifugation processes, while maintaining quality and minimising product loss.
  • Managing yeast, including harvesting, pitching, storage, and tracking yeast health and viability throughout fermentation cycles.
  • Monitoring and recording fermentation progress and performing post-fermentation additions.
  • Assisting with lab work and quality control procedures, including sampling, analysis, and documentation.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for beer and the brewing industry to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Basic knowledge of brewing processes
  • Experience in a commercial brewing environment
  • Working towards an IBD brewing qualification or equivalent
  • The ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a brewery setting
  • A motivated attitude, high standards and great attention to detail
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • A current Forklift Licence (or previous forklift operating experience)

This is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to take the next step in their brewing career, while working at New Zealand’s Champion Large Brewery for 2024.

Reach out to Ben Thomas at ben@parrotdog.co.nz for more details. Please note, you must be legally able to work in New Zealand to apply.

Nice.
