Job description:

Location: Ōtāhuhu, Auckland

Function: Finance

Type of Contract: Full time Permanent

This pivotal role leads the Record to Report (RtR) team of three, driving excellence in financial reporting and compliance for four key entities (DB Breweries Limited, Star Hospitality Group Ltd, Drinkworks, and SBM Pty Ltd). As the go-to technical expert on accounting standards, you’ll provide essential guidance across the business. You’ll also spearhead direct and indirect tax management (Income tax, Excise duty, GST, FBT, WHT), assist with the year-end external audit, and prepare consolidated statutory accounts. You will also provide oversight for the treasury and fixed asset function.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership and support to direct reports, fostering a strong team culture and aligning individual contributions with DB’s strategic goals through performance plans, coaching, formal feedback, and initiatives to maintain high engagement and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Consolidate DB Breweries subsidiaries into month-end results, upload to the Heineken reporting tool (CIL), and validate all data sets for DB Breweries Group.
  • Review tax returns, including GST, FBT, WHT, income tax, excise duty, and transfer pricing filings for DB Breweries, DB South Island breweries, Drinkworks, and SBM Pty Limited,
  • Lead the finance division in the Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation (BSAR) Process, reviewing all RtR reconciliations, backing up the R&A Manager in BSAR account reviews across finance divisions, and supporting in global BSAR reviews with the A&R Manager and Finance Director.
  • Serve as one of the key contacts for external audits, and prepare statutory financial statements for review
  • Support the R&A Manager in global project implementation by coordinating with Global teams and IS teams to ensure timely and effective execution.

 

Your background and experience:

  • CA qualified (or equivalent) with a strong understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Understanding of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Proven leadership experience of at least five years.
  • Technical financial accounting experience (e.g., CA firm, group accountant, or financial accountant in a large, complex business, ideally multinational)
  • Experience in large, complex organisations.
  • Proficient in Ms. Excel and other Ms. Offices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
