Packaging Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Packaging Technician to join our manufacturing team in New Zealand. This permanent, full-time role is essential for ensuring that our products are packaged efficiently and meet quality standards. The Packaging Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our production process and ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality packaging solutions.

Daily Tasks:

  • Operating the canning, kegging lines and all ancillary equipment (depalletizer , labeller, scales, date coder, etc )
  • Responsible for safe and efficient running of canning lines, (depalletizer, conveyors and labeling equipment)
  • Pack cans into 6pk boxes or sleeves
  • Stack full cases onto pallets for storage, repetitive 12kg cartons
  • Visually inspect and weigh cans on the packaging line to ensure quality
  • Wrap pallets tightly for storage and shipping, labelling all pallets accurately (product, number of cartons)
  • Measure dissolved oxygen levels and keep accurate records, reporting any issues to Pack Lead
  • Stickering / labelling boxes ready for assembly
  • Assist Pack Lead with seam checks and keep accurate record
  • Help maintain cleanliness of warehouse by cleaning on and around the canning line before/during/after operations making sure standard work is signed of daily and tasks completed before finishing shift
  • Move pallets full of cans into the chiller using a manual pallet jack or forklift
  • Cleaning & filling Kegs / PETS
  • Assist Pack Lead, stocktaking packaging equipment ( cans, boxes, labels etc )
  • Assist will miscellaneous warehouse duties
  • Maintaining a high standard of of cleanliness and sanitation (CIP/SIP) for all equipment and work areas
  • Adherence to all safety protocols
  • Wrap pallets tightly for storage and shipping.
  • Stickering / labelling boxes before assembly
  • Assisting in hand bottling projects.
  • Pack, weigh and label completed items for shipment or storage
  • Follow all company guidelines regarding packaging to ensure items arrive at their destination
  • Identify and dispose of defective items before they are shipped to customers
  • Properly use packaging materials, including hand tools, glues, nails, padding, etc
  • Assist in keeping complete records of all materials that go through the warehouse
  • Work as a member of the team to implement continual improvement in packaging quality and output.
  • Assist with miscellaneous warehouse duties.
  • Willingness to help out with other tasks as needed and assigned.
  • Assist in regular stock takes (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) to verify accuracy of finished goods and packaging
  • Participate in the re-pack process as and when required
  • Fostering a team – player mentality and solving problems proactively

Qualifications:

  • Previous Brewing/ Cellaring / Packaging / Winery work
  • Strong fit able to lift 20kg
  • Basic Shop skills, such as using hand tools
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, lift repetitively
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Can do attitude and a team player mentality
  • A desire to learn and grow
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on quality
  • Forklift licence or experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Fun, positive can do attitude a must ( a Team player)
  • Excellent communication, time management skills
