Job description:

Location: Ōtāhuhu, Auckland

Function: Finance

Type of Contract: Full time Permanent

As DB’s Senior Business Controller – Supply Chain, you will be a strategic finance partner and the 2IC to the Business Control Manager, working closely with production, logistics, and planning teams to drive performance and decision-making. You’ll turn complex data into clear insights, lead planning and forecasting, enhance financial controls, and support strategic initiatives through expert analysis and modelling. This role is ideal for a commercially savvy problem-solver who thrives on partnering with the business to deliver results.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to Supply Chain leaders, providing insights, challenge, and decision support across cost, inventory, capex, and performance.
  • Financial Planning & Forecasting: Lead end-to-end planning processes including annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-year plans. Ensure financial plans are tightly aligned to operational realities, support strategic objectives, and embed a culture of accountability and forward-looking performance management.
  • Performance Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain dynamic reporting tools and dashboards using Power BI to track key KPIs across production, logistics, and planning. Enable data-led performance discussions and provide timely, relevant insights to senior leadership.
  • Financial Governance and Continuous Improvement: Strengthen financial controls across the supply chain by embedding checks into core workflows and ensuring accuracy of cost capture. Lead initiatives to streamline processes, automate reporting, and enhance balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations of inventory, WIP, accruals, and provisions.
  • Leadership & Development: Coach junior team members and act as 2IC to the Business Control Manager, leading key initiatives and stepping into leadership responsibilities as needed.

Your background and experience:

  • CA, CPA, or equivalent, with 6+ years in financial analysis, business partnering, or FP&A — ideally within supply chain, FMCG, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven ability to go beyond the numbers with strong financial storytelling, delivering insights that influence decisions and drive performance.
  • Solid experience in forecasting, cost modelling, margin analysis, and capital planning, with a deep understanding of production accounting in SAP.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, and SAP (including AFO), with the ability to build and automate tools that enable efficient, insight-led reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to collaborate, challenge, and influence non-finance teams at all levels.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and adaptable, with a desire to lead, learn, and thrive in a high-performing, fast-paced, and commercially focused environment.
  • Must have valid New Zealand work rights.

Are you a commercially curious finance leader who thrives on solving complex problems, telling the story behind the numbers, and influencing operational decision-making?
