About us

An associated business of Wakatū Incorporation, Kono NZ LP is a vertically integrated, family-owned Māori food and beverage producer and exporter of award-winning wine, craft beer and fruit.

Kono NZ LP has a range of award-winning wines and craft beers that are popular both in Aotearoa and overseas. Our brands include Tohu and Kono wines and Hop Federation beer.

Tohu Wines is the world’s first Māori owned wine company. We have vineyards in Marlborough and Nelson, and we produce beautiful wines at our winery in the Awatere Valley. Our wines are sold both domestically and are exported across the globe.

Hop Federation Brewery is our craft brewery located in Motueka. We have recently invested in a new brewery site and are increasing our capacity in order to meet growing demand. Hop Federation is known for our approachable, hop forward, award winning beers.

We are looking for a motivated and confident person to join our sales team.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Wine Sales, this Sales Representative role, based in Lower and Central North Island, is and exciting opportunity to be responsible for driving and achieving domestic sales growth across all our beverages brands with a focus on grocery, retail and on-premise customers.

This role will be responsible for continued brand building and sales growth within existing accounts, while also identifying and developing new business opportunities for retail, grocery and on-premise. Time with customers is essential and travel will be required within the region.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop new business and achieve growth targets for Kono and Tohu wines, Hop Federation beer
  • Work with marketing to increase brand awareness in the region, such as coordinating and providing assistance at key events such as winemaker / brewer dinners, festivals and trade shows.
  • Maintain market awareness and presence by providing market information on competitor activity and product trends
  • Roll out and pull through national account sales plans in the Lower and Central North Island

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Fantastic communication with a proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in the grocery, retail and on-premise markets, ideally in the Lower and Central North Island.
  • Excellent customer and relationship management skills, with the ability to build, manage and enhance customer relationships
  • A passion for brands, combined with industry knowledge
  • The ability to work well under pressure and without direct supervision.
  • You will enjoy beer and wine sales, and be able to multi-task between both categories with ease
