Waged: $35 – $40 per hour

Introduction:

Nestled a block back from the dunes of Wellington’s iconic Lyall Bay, Parrotdog Brewery’s onsite bar serves only the freshest Parrotdog beer direct from tank to tap. With cozy booths, a traditionally styled bar and a pool table with a view of the brewery, we take our inspiration from the great pubs and taverns of yesteryear.

 

As Bar Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the bar, ensuring exceptional customer service and team training standards. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant and fast-paced environment, contributing to the success of one of Wellington’s award-winning venues.

 

This is a diverse role with a unique edge in the Hospitality industry, working closely with senior management and the wider Brewery team. This role will be working 40 hours per week, on a rotation roster, generally between Tuesday and Saturday. A current Duty Managers certificate is required for this role.

About Us:

Parrotdog was conceived in 2011 out of a love for good beer by three guys named Matt. Today, we have grown this love for beer into an industry leading operation producing high quality beers, recognised as New Zealand’s Champion Large Brewery in 2024. An award-winning venue, Parrotdog Bar is a traditional-style bar featuring 17 rotating taps that showcase our range, complemented by a simple, high-quality burger menu.

 

What you’ll be doing:

● Manage all aspects of bar operations, including inventory management

● Staff rostering, team training and recruitment of FOH team

● Develop systems and processes with a keen eye for detail and high standards.

● Deliver an outstanding customer experience and support in any improvements to the overall service model.

● Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing and regulatory requirements.

● Collaborate with the broader management team to contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the business.

 

What we’re looking for:

● Experience (2+ years) in a bar management or senior bartender role within a high-volume and fast-paced hospitality environment.

● Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

● Passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

● Proficient use of various POS and stock management softwares

● Keen attention to detail, high standards of work and experience in training a team to these standards.

● Proven experience in developing systems and processes in a venue, driving improvements and supporting future strength and stability of an operation.
