Brewing Assistant Position Description

The opportunity has opened up for a Brewing Assistant to join our highly skilled team at one of New Zealand’s most reputable breweries.

As a Brewing Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping us produce high quality beer. Your day-to-day will include a mix of hands-on brewery cellar and quality control tasks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out CIP (clean-in-place) and general sanitation procedures.
  • Operations of centrifuge and lenticular type filtration.
  • Managing yeast, including harvesting, pitching, storage, and tracking yeast health and viability throughout fermentation cycles.
  • All aspects of fermentation monitoring, including recording fermentation progress and performing post-fermentation additions.
  • Assisting brewers with graining out, and receipt and organisation of raw materials.
  • Maintaining sound record keeping procedures including use of SAP software.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for beer and the brewing industry to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A keen interest and basic knowledge of brewing processes.
  • Ideally production experience in either a commercial brewing or beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Working towards an IBD brewing qualification or equivalent.
  • The ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a brewery setting, including lifting up to 25kg of materials.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • High motivation to be a team player with high standards and great attention to detail.
  • Great mechanical aptitude and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • A passion for quality beer.
